Prof. Myers leads an ongoing research programme aimed at innovating the treatment of keloid scars. Working at the Centre for Cutaneous Research, the research team is looking at the cell signalling behind keloid formation as well as conducting trials into new topical treatment for keloid scars in the laboratory.

In the past Mr Myers was awarded his PhD from London University in keratinocyte growth and differentiation in cutaneous wound healing and cultured keratinocyte grafting in 1999. He raised a £2,127,000 European Commission Research and Technological Development Grant for skin engineering in 1996. He completed a Burn Fellowship at the Broomfield Burn Centre in 2001, and became Burn Lead Consultant at the Chelsea & Westminster Burn Centre in 2002, achieving designation for that service in the National designation process. He became medical director of the Stephen Kirby Skin Bank, and established a collaboration between the burn service, the Children's Fire and Burn Trust, and the London Fire Brigade aimed at burn prevention. He has been involved in International humanitarian ventures in burn care with Professor Navsaria. He received an award of merit as an NHS Champion from the King's Fund in 2004. At the beginning of 2006 he was appointed as Clinical Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary & Westfield College , and Honorary Consultant Plastic Surgeon to the St. Bartholomew's and The London NHS Trust, and Honorary Consultant Burn and Plastic Surgeon at Broomfield Hospital.
